Originally from South Korea, Eugene went to middle school in San Marcos, TX and high school in Chattanooga, TN before attending Northwestern University, where he studied applied math with a second major in Integrated Science Program and a minor in computer science. After spending 4 years back in South Korea to complete his military service requirement, he moved back to Texas and started the program in Fall 2021. His research interests are scientific machine learning, massively parallel computing, and materials modeling and simulation.
